- About Us
The Rahula College Environmental Pioneers Brigade was established with the permission of Mr. Nimal Dissanayake, the former principal of Rahula College, and on the instructions of the officers of the Matara District Office of the Central Environment Authority. Mrs. D.P.P. Manamperi was appointed as the teacher-in-charge. The brigade was launched in 2012 with 50 grade 6 students, and it has expanded over the years, achieving many accolades and medals.
- Activities & Projects
The Rahula Environmental Pioneers have undertaken numerous activities and projects, including gardening, cleaning wards of Matara Hospital during Vesak, environmental marches, field trips, environmental camps, waste management projects, production of organic fertilizers, and urban garden projects. These endeavors have contributed to the development of a community of environmentally conscious students, who are committed to preserving the environment and have learned to overcome challenges.
- Achievements
2019 :
The 6th grade students who joined the Rahul Environmental Pioneers Brigade in 2013 qualified for the great opportunity of receiving the President’s Medals. 3 students from that group received the President’s Medals.
